FAQ

You've got questions, we have answers. Here's everything you need to know about microneedling.

  • Microneedling works by using tiny, sterile needles to create micro-injuries on the surface of your skin. These micro-injuries trigger your skin’s natural healing process, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin—two key proteins that keep your skin firm, smooth, and youthful. As your skin heals, it becomes stronger and more resilient, reducing the appearance of fine lines, scars, and other imperfections. It’s like giving your skin a gentle nudge to start renewing itself, resulting in a radiant, more youthful complexion over time.

  • The number of treatments you’ll need depends on your skin goals and the condition being treated. For general skin rejuvenation, you might see noticeable results after just one session, but typically, a series of 3 to 6 treatments spaced about 4 weeks apart is recommended for the best results. If you’re targeting specific concerns like acne scars or deeper wrinkles, more sessions might be needed. We’ll tailor a treatment plan to your specific needs to get you the best results.

  • Yes, microneedling is safe when performed by trained professionals. The procedure uses sterile, fine needles that are specifically designed to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, minimizing any risk of infection or damage. It’s a minimally invasive treatment that’s well-tolerated by most skin types. While you might experience some redness and mild swelling afterward, these effects usually subside within a few days. To ensure your safety and the best results, we’ll assess your skin before the treatment and provide you with aftercare instructions.

  • Most people are good candidates for microneedling, especially if you’re looking to improve skin texture, reduce fine lines, or fade scars and hyperpigmentation. It’s suitable for all skin types and tones. However, if you have active acne, certain skin conditions like eczema, or if you're pregnant, microneedling might not be recommended. We always recommend a consultation first to assess your skin and determine if microneedling is the best option for you.

  • Before your treatment you should avoid active ingredients like AHAs, BHAs, and retinoids for at least 7 days prior to your appointment. Avoid neuromodulators (botox) and fillers for at least 2 weeks prior and limit your sun exposure, tanning beds, and self tanners for at least 2 weeks before your appointment.

  • After your treatment you should avoid intensive exercise, saunas, spas, hot tubs, and tanning beds for 48 hours. Avoid direct sun exposure and do not use sunscreen for 24 hours post-treatment. Avoid touching the treated skin and always wash your hands before touching the treated area. For the first 24 hours after your treatment only use skincare products that are recommended by your Skin Expert and avoid all makeup for at least 24 hours.
